Happy New Year

Welcome to 2006!

Emma and I are now both back at work after a bus, and at times hectic, Christmas and New Year. We spent Christmas in Sydney with Emma’s parents, then spent the following week looking after their house while they took holidays. This involved feeding the cat and the rabbit next door, lots of cricket watching, catching up friends, and not much else.

We travelled to Coonabarabran in the Central West of NSW on December 30th to attend the wedding of James Sinclair and Summer Field. Summer shared a house with Emma and I lived with James, before we were married. My sister Naomi also attended the wedding with her boyfriend Russell, and by some strange coincidence, my younger sister Min and her husband Mick were also camping outside Coonabarabran at the same time. It was fun to spend some time with the family after not seeing them at Christmas.

Coona is an interesting little town on a major inland highway that links Brisbane and Melbourne. It’s also famous for astronomy. Australia’s largest telescope is located there. The weather was extremely hot so we spent quite a lot of time in the airconditioned motel room and in the pool. But we also managed a visit to an observatory for a late night tour and astronomy lesson. The wedding was beautiful and was also great fun. We were glad to be able to pray for our friends.

Since then life has been dominated by the big move. Yes, we have left our cottage in Queanbeyan and moved into a much larger house in Bruce. It is right across the road from the University of Canberra, where Dan works with the FOCUS ministry. Moving was a bit of a nightmare and took all week, then the cleaning of the old house took all weekend. Dan finished the last of it off this morning. We are very glad to be in the new house and look forward to entertaining friends with the extra space. We still have lots of unpacking to do though.
